We are raising money for the British Heart Foundation
Coronary heart disease is the UK's single biggest killer. The BHF's mission is to win the fight against cardiovascular disease and their vision is a world in which people do not die prematurely or suffer from heart disease.
The BHF's pioneering research helps to transform the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions.
Previous Walks
In 2013 and 2014 our walks raised funds for 2 great charities, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Ronald McDonald House Bristol.Macmillan provide practical, medical and financial support to push for better cancer care.

Ronald McDonald House Bristol is an independent charity which is a home-from-home to the families of critically ill children receiving care at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
It provides free accommodation and its aim is to keep families together during what is probably one of the most stressful times of their lives.

Fundraising - Sponsorship and Donations
The fundraising in 2013 and 2014 was split 50-50 between the two charities. We raised over £3000 with the previous walks. In 2015 we are using the Just Giving website to raise sponsorship for the British Heart Foundation.
Our personal connection with the charities
Macmillan Cancer Support
We have both lost close relatives to cancer and know how important it is that we have charities like Macmillan to support people and their families whatever the outcome.
Macmillan provides health and social care, practical support, expert advice, help through treatment, and financial assistance to the patients and families affected by cancer.
Ronald McDonald House Bristol
Alex's nephew was born with a serious heart condition and needed urgent care at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (twice). He was rushed from Torbay to the specialist unit in Bristol to receive life-saving treatment. On top of the obvious critical situation, the family had no way of staying in Bristol which added a huge amount of stress, worry and financial burden.
Ronald McDonald House Bristol provided free accommodation so the family could stay near to the hospital.
The communal nature of the facilities allows families who are going through a similar experience to meet and support each other, while the bedrooms are spacious enough to allow families to enjoy their privacy in comfort.
